Overview
About this service
The identification card confirms a person’s identity and Armenian citizenship within Armenia. It is increasingly required for electronic signatures, income declarations and electronic contracts.
Armenia is currently moving to a new biometric identity-document system: according to officials, the new Law “On Identification Documents” enters into force on 1 November 2026, after which new-format cards will be issued and holding a card will become mandatory from age 16. We track these changes and confirm the procedure, duties and timeframes in force before you apply.
Applications are made in person only: your photograph and biometric data are captured at the office. We take care of the preparation — document checklist, review, state duty payment, booking a convenient slot and, if you wish, accompaniment. The decision to issue a card rests solely with the competent authority.
